Path Dependence: Sam Octigan

The collaborators I’ve worked with, the cultural influences I’ve absorbed, the spaces I’ve worked in - all of these have shaped my practice, whether consciously or unconsciously. Rather than resisting or denying these influences, I’ve embraced and accepted them, tracing the threads that connect my past to my present.

Ultimately, Path Dependence is about embracing the reality that we are all shaped by where we’ve been, but we also can redirect, reinterpret, and expand upon those foundations. This work is both a reflection on my artistic path and an invitation for viewers to consider how their histories inform their present.
