Overview
The works in 'Escape Plan' are Hughes Odgers' playful and dreamlike contemplation upon the experience of searching for a balance between optimism and despair during the last two years of confinement to one geographical location, the state of West Australia.
'A field without a Fence' pictures a boundless landscape, 'We all get stuck here sometimes', a bottle full of people, confined and unable to escape, like fish in a fishbowl.
These contrasting images of freedom and confinement are presented through a cohesive colour palette and a visual language of simplicity and refinement, bringing these two feelings closer together and presenting the opportunity to consider how we each strive to maintain a harmonious relationship between our need for movement and stillness within our own lives.
