Rain to Rust: David 'MEGGS' Hooke

17 July - 8 August 2021
Overview

This work is a deeper, more personal and abstract exploration into my own intuitive art practice and a response to the fluid connections I found in the spectrum of landscapes experienced during my travels, from dense forest foliage and coastal waters to industrial decay and urban regrowth.

- David 'MEGGS' Hooke

’Rain to Rust’ is a collection of expressive new works by David ‘MEGGS’ Hooke that explore duality, movement, change and regrowth.

Stemming from his recent residency with QBank Gallery in Queenstown, Tasmania. ‘Rain to Rust’ marks a reconnection period in MEGGS’ personal journey and artistic practice and a return home to Melbourne following his time spent in the USA, predominantly within Los Angeles (CA), Hilo (HI) and Detroit (MI).

‘Rain to Rust’ features a collection of new paintings, multiples on wood, interior mural and 3-Dimensional installations which celebrates the energy and cathartic release of mark making, providing MEGGS with an escape and peace of mind which the artist hopes inspires similar feelings in others.
