Biography

Deborah Walker's paintings are often seen to be of of simple, commonplace things, yet on closer viewing they suggest a more mysterious, unnameable quality . Whether it is objects, people or scenes, their dreamlike under-current engages a truth beyond simple language.

Walker's imagery is framed around a personal narrative, one that evokes a female experience. Yet key to this envisioning of people and events is that they are not fixed entities in a measurable world. They are figures and stories that exist as enigmatic presence in a world of Dionysion undercurrents.

While the ultimate truth of these chronicles my be unknowable, her enigmatic imagery offer a unifying vision of enduring solace.
