SKOLA

Jundiaí, São Paulo state, BRAZIL

Born (1989) in the town of Jundiaí, in São Paulo state’s countryside, the twin brothers who make up the duo Skola have since their childhood held illustration to be a constant desire in their lives. Between sketches and drafts, they became interested in design, and later on, around 2009, started painting in the streets. Little by little, they earned notoriety through their minimalist style, made up of letters and usually monochromatic forms. Afterwards, the duo would develop an interest for other fields, exploring various techniques and foundations with their work, making illustrations both for major brands and independent publications. With lenticular pieces, characters, cartoons, and sculptures, they would search for different means of expressing their art in a unique, simple, and objective way. Their artwork reflects and delves deep into elements of our daily lives, blending images and concepts that reach out to the marginalized environments of the streets in a sarcastic and critical, yet clear manner. Skola's work is present in very prestigious venues, like international arts festivals, exhibits in New York and Dusseldorf, among others.
